Post-doc position in practical (moral, political or social) philosophy (fixed-term, 75%).
The Department of Philosophy at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf is seeking applications for a post-doc position in practical philosophy (Wissenschaftliche:r Mitarbeiter:in, pay grade TV-L 13, 75%), affiliated with the Professorship for Practical Philosophy. The position will start on 1st February 2027 (or as close to that date as possible), and is for a period of 1 year initially with the possibility for extension depending on funding.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in moral, political or social philosophy. Applications from candidates working in environmental philosophy, philosophy of public policy, or social epistemology are especially welcome. An interest in public philosophy or interdisciplinary research is desirable. This position involves teaching duties (3 courses per year with 2hrs class time per course, in German or English) and administrative duties, incl. the organization of academic events. The successful candidate is expected to apply for external funding with funding bodies such as DFG, Volkswagen Foundation, ERC, etc. The Post-doc will be part of the vibrant Philosophy Department at HHU Düsseldorf, with opportunities for research collaboration, professional development and academic mentoring.
Applicants should hold a PhD in philosophy in at least one of the above-mentioned fields. They should have demonstrable capacity for independent research (i.e. through high-quality publications). Applications from women and members of other groups that are underrepresented in academic Philosophy are especially welcome. Proficiency in English and teaching experience are essential criteria.
