Membership Fees
GAP membership fees are based on the member’s income. There are four categories:
- Professors in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, as well as members with comparable or higher income, pay an annual fee of €60.
- Academic staff in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland with at least a half-time position, and members with comparable income, pay an annual fee of €40.
- Other members (e.g., students, doctoral scholarship holders, or non-employed individuals) pay an annual fee of €12.
- Supporting members pay an annual fee of €100.
Membership fees must be paid by SEPA direct debit. Members whose fees cannot be collected despite an issued direct debit mandate will be charged an administrative fee of €10, provided the cause does not lie with the GAP.
For members who cannot participate in the SEPA direct debit procedure, the GAP offers two alternative payment methods:
- By direct bank transfer, if and only if the payment is made in €.
- By PayPal, if and only if it is not possible to make a direct bank transfer in €.
Foreign currencies incur high bank fees; PayPal payments and late payments create significant additional work. Therefore, members who cannot participate in the SEPA direct debit procedure pay an administrative fee of €10. The administrative fee is waived if the membership payment (by direct bank transfer or PayPal) is received in January.
