GAP Lecture Series

The Society for Analytic Philosophy regularly funds the organization of lecture series. These events are integrated into local lecture classes, are simultaneously accessible to all GAP members in a hybrid format, and will later be published as recordings on our YouTube channel.

Procedures

Approximately once a year, GAP publishes a call for proposals for the upcoming GAP lecture series as GAP announcement and via email to all GAP members. From all submissions, the board selects one proposal. The event is then announced as the “GAP Lecture Series” on this homepage and in a special email to all GAP members.

Lecture Series 2025/26

The second GAP Lecture Series took place in the winter semester 2025/26 on the topic “Between Wilderness and Polis: Current Debates on the Ethics of Human-Animal Relationships.” The event was organized by Frauke Albersmeier (University of Münster) and Alexander Christian (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf). The lecture series was dedicated to new research approaches in animal ethics and the societal challenges in dealing with animals. The program and further information can be found here. You can watch the recordings of the GAP Lecture Series in this playlist on our YouTube channel.

Lecture Series 2024

The first GAP Lecture Series took place in the summer semester 2024 on the topic “Contested Concepts: Philosophical Perspectives on Racism, Antisemitism, Sexism, …”. With their guests, Geert Keil, Anna Schriefl, and Markus Schrenk asked in Berlin and Düsseldorf: What is racism, what is antisemitism, sexism, Islamophobia, transphobia, homophobia, etc.?
