The GAP provides funding for conferences and workshops related to analytic philosophy upon application.
Additional criteria for funding include the support of early-career researchers and inclusion. Applications for conference support must be submitted no later than one week before the end of the quarter preceding the quarter in which the event takes place. Accordingly, the respective deadlines are March 24, June 23, September 23, and December 24.
A prerequisite for submitting an application is GAP membership. Please also note that a maximum of one proposal per organizing person will be approved in a calendar year. Individual conferences are generally not funded with more than €600. The funding amount should not exceed 50% of the total costs.
The GAP does not reimburse honoraria for speakers and, as a rule, does not cover costs that can be met by other means (e.g., travel and accommodation costs). In the sense of supplementary financing, the GAP specifically contributes to costs that are not, or only with great difficulty, reimbursed by other institutions (e.g., catering and advertising costs).
Please note that our conference funding is financed entirely by membership fees (some of which come from students). Due to a high number of funding requests and limited funds, we ask that you check before applying whether the items planned for the application cannot be covered by funds from larger projects or the university’s own resources.
Procedures
Applications for funding should include the following information:
- Names of the organizers
- Conference topic with a brief explanation
- Location (within the German-speaking region) and time
- Invited participants
- Planned financing
- Amount requested and its intended use
