The Wolfgang Stegmüller Award, which supports researchers in the early stages of their careers, is granted every three years, usually to three individuals, typically for doctoral or habilitation theses. Endowed by Margret Stegmüller, the prize carries a total prize money of €12,000.
Procedures
The award is granted every three years at the GAP Congress for outstanding work in the field of analytic philosophy. Eligible are works of any length (language: German or English), whether published or unpublished.
At the close of the nomination period, the following application criteria apply to the authors of the nominated works:
- They are no older than 40 or they completed their doctorate no more than 6 years ago. Periods of parental leave are taken into account.
- They do not yet hold a permanent academic position.
- They are employed at a university where German is an official language of instruction or they have obtained an academic degree from such a university.
Nominations must be submitted to the GAP with a justification of no more than 1,000 words and the nominee’s curriculum vitae. Self-nominations are not permitted. The works are submitted electronically (PDF). Nominees add a three- to four-page summary. The submission deadline is 31 January of the year in which the GAP Congress takes place.
